Who am I

I am a psychotherapist, spiritual mentor and pastor, professor and perpetual student.

I am married to the beautiful and multi-talented Deidra, and the father of two gym rats—Daniel-Caleb, a globe-trekking, masters poli-sci graduate- and Rasami- a Thai princess, savvy-restaurant server, odd-sock wearing French undergrad.

I have had the opportunity of serving in Nunatsiavut, the Great Northern Peninsula, a downtown mission, a Conception Bay congregation, and the largest university in Atlantic Canada. By good fortune, I have led cultural-humanitarian missions to Cuba, Thailand, and Malawi. I now lecture at college and have opened Newmantra Therapy, a private counselling practice.

I love to write and read, listen to music, chat over coffee, wander and photograph nature, coach basketball and chaplain professional hockey, and teach in a myriad of arenas.

I am a person of faith and of thought, and of the doubts that lie between.

My education includes a doctorate from Acadia, and master’s degrees from Yorkville, and Memorial. I am currently enrolled in a PhD program at GCAS Dublin, writing a history of religion in Newfoundland and Labrador, a biography on Alice Belle Garrigus, and making the final edits to a novel.
